About

Hi there! My name is Sarah. I officially started my quilting journey in 2014 when I borrowed a friend’s sewing machine to make a baby quilt. My full exploration of modern quilting didn’t take off until 2017 when I discovered the South Florida Modern Quilt Guild on Instagram. Two days later I joined the guild and took my first class with modern quilting legend Latifah Saafir. I also enjoy other sewing projects including bags and accessories, and I look forward to dabbling in garment sewing someday. I am currently a member of both the South Florida Modern Quilt Guild and the Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild.

Professionally, I have worked as a certified athletic trainer since 2005, and recently earned a second master’s degree in health administration from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. I am passionate about strategy, performance improvement, health policy, health literacy, health equity, and many other social justice issues. I am currently in pursuit of my Doctor of Public Health degree, also from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

In addition to an active quilting life I enjoy many other activities “on the side,” such as running and CrossFit, calligraphy, bullet journaling, photography, baking, and traveling. I certainly consider myself a lifelong learner and my quilting inspiration comes from many sources!
